In February, Xiaomi chief executive officer Lei Jun in a Weibo post, noted that the company was again partnering with French designer Philippe Starck, who introduced the design concept of the Mi Mix 2. It was reported that the company was planning to further increase the screen-to-body ratio of the Mi Mix 2 to 93%, compared to 91.3% ratio of the original Mi Mix.

Other rumoured features of the smartphone include storage options of 128GB and 256GB, a 19 megapixel rear camera and a 13 megapixel front-facing camera. The phone is likely to sport a 6.4in AMOLED screen with resolution at 2540x1440 pixels and a 4,500mAh battery.
