Trump says no politician in history has been treated 'more unfairly'

Donald Trump: 'No politician has been treated worse than me'Reuters

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (17 May) gave vent to his frustration over the intensifying political problems he is facing, saying that no president in US history had been treated "worse" or "more unfairly."

"Look at the way I've been treated lately. Especially by the media. No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly. You can't let them get you down," he said.

Speaking at the commencement address at the US Coast Guard Academy, Trump however showed his fighting spirit.

He told the graduating cadets to follow his example and "fight, fight, fight. Never, ever, give up. Things will work out just fine.

AFP said the outburst by the president came following intensifying pressure after he fired FBI director James Corney last week while the bureau investigated his presidential campaign's alleged ties to Russia.

On Tuesday, the New York Times, reported that Trump had asked Corney to drop the bureau's probe of former national security adviser Michael Flynn during a meeting at the Oval Office.

It has also emerged that Trump told the Russians classified information about military operations involving Isis.

There has been growing concerns in Washington over the relationship between Trump's team and Russia.

And it has just got worse. The Senate Intelligence Committee announced on Wednesday (17 May) that they have asked Corney to testify.

And a US Congressman, Al Green has called for Trump to be impeached saying: "There is a belief in this country that no-one is above the law, and that includes the President of the United States of America."
