White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci's bizarre, profanity-filled phone interview with The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza on Wednesday (26 July) has gone viral on social media with people picking it apart for the juiciest bits. In an extensive interview, Scaramucci ranted about a number of his White House colleagues including White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus whom he described as a "paranoid f**king schizophrenic" as well as Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.

In an extensive interview, Scaramucci ranted about a number of his White House colleagues including White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus whom he described as a "paranoid f**king schizophrenic" as well as Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.

The conversation between Scaramucci and Lizza took place after the reporter tweeted about the new communications director having dinner at the White House with President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania, Sean Hannity and former Fox News executive Bill Shine, citing a "senior White House official."

On Wednesday (26 July), Scaramucci called Lizza and demanded to know who leaked the information. When Lizza refused to reveal his source, Scarmucci threatened to fire his entire communications staff over the alleged leak and said: "I'm asking you as an American patriot to give me a sense of who leaked it."

Without asking to speak off the record or on background, the conversation then evolved into a venting session for the former Wall Street financier who then accused Priebus, whom he has feuded with over the past few months, of leaking the information to Lizza.

"'Oh, Bill Shine is coming in,'" Scaramucci told Lizza, mimicking Priebus. "'Let me leak the f**king thing and see if I can c**k-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months'."

He also accused controversial former Breitbart news executive Steve Bannon of serving his own interests as well.

"I'm not Steve Bannon, I'm not trying to suck my own c**k," he said. "I'm not trying to build my own brand off the f**king strength of the president. I'm here to serve the country."

After the story was published, Scaramucci said in a tweet that he would refrain from using "colourful language" in his new role in the future.

Meanwhile, the interview quickly began trending on Twitter with people ripping it apart for the most vulgar quotes. The New Yorker also tweeted out quote cards featuring highlights from the interview as well.

While some called it the "best thing out of the White House yet", others questioned how the White House communications director failed to understand how the press works.

"It's cool how the communications director of the White House doesn't understand how talking to a reporter works," ESL caster Jason Kaplan tweeted. MSNBC's Joy Reid wrote: "Shouldn't a communications director know when he's going on the record?"

Others responded with a cacophony of hilarious memes, jokes and comments in response to the wild interview.

"A battle between a square dude named Reince and a rebel dude called The Mooch sounds like a musical with a Billy Joel inspired soundtrack", one Twitter user wrote. Clara Jeffery, editor-in-chief of Mother Jones tweeted: This whole thing is absolutely bonkers. I think SNL should just come back on the air and reenact this as is."

"I had to double check if this article was satire. Nope, just our sad reality", one person tweeted while another said: "The Mooch is loose and I love it!"
