Google Nexus 5X goes on sale in key markets worldwide

Unveiled on 29 September, Google's 5in Nexus phone manufactured by LG has gone on sale in a few select markets across the globe. The Nexus 5X launched alongside Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet -- are the first of Google's devices to run the Android Marshmallow out-of-box.

The 5X that succeeds 2014's Nexus 5, is available for purchase from the Google Play Store as well as from major carriers in countries such as US, Canada, UK, Ireland, India, Korea and Japan. Additional markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America will get the device in the "coming weeks".

"Nexus devices are about having the newest, purest Android experience possible in an advanced package that doesn't break the bank. The Nexus 5X was designed from the ground up to live up to the expectations of the millions of Android purists worldwide who won't accept second best. After two successful collaborations, we think customers will agree that this is our best Nexus to date," said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications.

The pricing of the handset varies depending on the market it is on sale. The 16GB model of Nexus 5X in the UK costs £339 and those who wish to go in for the 32GB variant will have to pay just £40 more.

High-street retailer Carphone Warehouse, now has the Nexus 5 in stock across its stores in the country. Prospective buyers can either purchase the SIM-free version of the new Nexus phone or obtain Pay Monthly deals under contracts with a bunch of carrier networks such as EE, Vodafone, iD and O2, starting from £27.50. Meanwhile, a few lucky owners are reported to have already received their Nexus 5X via Carphone Warehouse. Other online retailers in the country – Unlocked Mobiles, Clove and Expansys – are expecting the stock in a couple of days.

Google's large-screen Nexus model coming from Huawei – Nexus 6P - which is already on pre-order will be hitting the global market starting 26 October, after which it will be rolled out to more than 30 countries.
