Find love in a verified place: Loveflutter dating app only for Twitter users with blue tick

The 'Blue' application is targeted at verified Twitters users - but will anyone sign up?Loveflutter

Are you a verified Twitter user looking for love but who also needs any future partner to also come brandishing a blue tick? Turns out you may be in luck.

Have you ever wanted to sext Barack Obama (you shouldn't, he is married), have a flirtatious chat about theology with Richard Dawkins, or talk Russian sanctions with Donald Trump? Well, on 25 July 2017, dating service Loveflutter updated its app to cater specifically for verified users.

Branded Loveflutter Blue (like the tick, get it?), it is billed as a premium version that lets users "swipe the most happening singles on Twitter nearby" from exciting industries such as "film, fashion, politics, media, sports" and more, the website teased in a post.

"In an era of catfishing and fake identities, authenticity is key, which is why we're leveraging Twitter's world-class verification system to make dating safer," it said.

"With nearly 200k accounts verified, Twitter's blue tick community is the largest pool of 100% real users online."

"For those of you in the public eye, privacy and authenticity in dating are a key concern," it continued. "It's why we've tapped into a ready-made community of like-minded singles. Choose to swipe verified Twitter users only and date discreetly within the Blue community."

The verified section of the app is currently free to the first 1,000 founding members who sign up in each major city, Loveflutter said, adding that members who miss the boat will be forced to cough up a monthly subscription fee to access the service, at a price yet to be determined.

Available for Apple iOS and Google Android now, users can download the basic Loveflutter application and sign up with their verified Twitter account. It has been rolled out in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London and Tokyo so far, with more cities to be announced soon.

A dating "concierge" service for Blue members is also reportedly on the horizon. It will offer "handpicked introductions and discreet dates at the most intimate and exclusive venues in your city", the company said. It remains to be seen how the app will play out in reality.

As Mashable noted, there are indeed roughly 200,000 verified users on Twitter – but that doesn't mean you're guaranteed face-time with Katy Perry, Elon Musk or BBC Breaking News – a large chunk of verified users are actually made up of politicians, businesspeople and writers.

If that's your thing, however, you may be in luck.
