Deportivo La Coruna are waiting for a response from Arsenal after recently launching an offer worth around €10m (£9m, $11.6m) to lure Lucas Perez back to La Liga ahead of the coming season, IBTimes UK sources understand.

Perez only joined Arsenal from the Spanish outfit last summer after proving to be one of the revelations of La Liga during the 2016-2017 campaign, scoring 17 goals and setting up a further 10 to help his boyhood club avoid relegation.

Everton were also interested in the Spanish forward but the Gunners won the race for his signature after meeting his £17m release clause at the Riazor Stadium.

However, Perez was restricted to just 22 appearances last season. The former Deportivo star scored seven goals in the process, including a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory over Basel in the Champions League, but failed to register a single minute of playing time from March onwards.

Perez's situation is unlikely to change in the coming season after Wenger bolstered his attack further with the record addition of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

Local publication La Voz de Galicia reported on Monday (24 July) the Spaniard recently met Arsenal's transfer negotiator Dick Law to inform him of his desire to quit the Emirates Stadium this summer.

IBTimes UK sources can confirm that the conversation between Perez and the Arsenal chief did exist as the Spaniard feels that he has been unfairly treated by the Gunners.

Perez has been left out of the Arsenal pre-season tour of the Far East and only found out that the club have given Lacazette his number nine shirt after reading about it online.

Fenerbahçe and several other clubs across Europe have expressed interest in taking advantage of the situation and offering him a escape route ahead of the coming season.

However, IBTimes UK understands that Deportivo are the ones pushing hardest to secure his signature after they recently submitted an offer worth around €10m (£9m, $11.6m) to lure Perez back to Spain.

Deportivo were confident that the bid could tempt Arsenal to accept a loss on the striker as Perez is also keen to return to his homeland. Sevilla recently bought Nolito from Manchester City in similar circumstances, paying €8m for his services only a year after being recruited from Celta Vigo by Pep Guardiola in a €18m deal.

However, Deportivo are still waiting for a response from Arsenal even though Perez looks to be firmly out of Wenger's plans ahead of the new season.
